God tapped Kurt on the shoulder one day and said, “How about serving me in Christian broadcasting?” Kurt remembered thinking, “Me—for real?”Kurt came to WDCX from The Family Life Network where he was on the air in various roles-morning and afternoon drive, as well as hosting a daily half-hour live interview program called Inside Out. His topical conversations featured many well-known Christian authors and newsmakers. Before that, Kurt spent more than 8 years in Christian radio at the SOS Radio Network based in Las Vegas. At SOS, Kurt hosted the afternoon drive show and did a daily interview segment, Total Impact. Previous to this Kurt worked in television news as an anchor/reporter for TV stations in Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, Oklahoma, and Texas. Much of his work was aired nationally.
Kurt accepted Christ at age 11, but had drifted away from God over a period of years. “It truly was a case of God not giving up on me,” says Kurt. After recommitting his life to Christ, and while working at the NBC affiliate in Las Vegas, Kurt prayed a truly daring prayer: “Lord, all I want to do is serve you, either in broadcasting or out of broadcasting, I don’t care. Just tell me what you want me to do, Lord, and be there every step of the way.” That’s the kind of prayer you pray when you’re ready for an adventure. An amazing set of circumstances opened the way for Kurt to transition into Christian radio.
Kurt is a graduate of Texas Christian University. He and his wife, Liz, have two boys, Aleq and Nicolas. The family also has two crazy but extremely lovable long-haired dachshunds, Kirby and Dudley.
